Justine Grover
Justine Grover developed her passion for flamenco at 9 years old when she began her studies with the esteemed Blanca Luz in Buena Park, Calif. While attending college at University of California Riverside she furthered her dancing by also enrolling in ballet classes with Blanca Luz' daughter, Giselle. She continued dancing flamenco & ballet while pursuing her degree in Fine Art. Since graduating from college, she continued to study flamenco with many of the fine teachers in Los Angeles & Orange County. In 2008 she went to Spain and studied in Jerez de la Frontera with Angelita Gómez. In 2009 she went again. So in 2010 she moved her whole life to Sevilla and studied flamenco for a full year with some of the most renowned bailaores in the flamenco world such as Rafael Campallo, Milagros Menjibar, Concha Vargas, Carmen Ledesma and Rubén Olmo.
For more than 20 years, Justine has performed regularly throughout Orange County & Los Angeles at various events, festivals, galleries, restaurants, theaters and special places like Mission San Juan Capistrano. She danced at Tapas Flavors of Spain in Newport Beach and in Mission Viejo from 2008-2019.
As well as performing flamenco, she is also passionate about introducing new people to flamenco. For over 10 years she has brought flamenco to Orange County high schools where she assists Spanish language teachers to educate Spanish classes on the culture and history of flamenco. Prior to moving to Spain she enjoyed teaching flamenco dance classes for several years, and now at Naranjita she can do it again. She opened Naranjita with the intention of creating a space for people who are interested in experiencing flamenco as more than just being a part of the audience. With Naranjita, she hopes to build a great flamenco resource in Southern California for those that want to learn, teach, experience and participate.
If you have any questions about flamenco in Orange County, Los Angeles or Spain, please feel free to contact Justine. She's always happy to talk about flamenco and share information with anyone who has an interest in this art form she loves so much.
